When you convert a string expression, the date and time must be entered either in one of the date acceptance patterns defined for your locale setting (see <switchinline select="sys"><caseinline select="MAC"><menuitem>%PRODUCTNAME - Preferences</menuitem></caseinline><defaultinline><menuitem>Tools - Options</menuitem></defaultinline></switchinline><menuitem> - Languages and Locales - General</menuitem>) or in ISO date format (momentarily, only the ISO format with hyphens, e.g. "2012-12-31" is accepted). In numeric expressions, values to the left of the decimal represent the date, beginning from December 31, 1899. Values to the right of the decimal represent the time.

Use EOF to avoid errors when you attempt to get input past the end of a file. When you use the Input or Get statement to read from a file, the file pointer is advanced by the number of bytes read. When the end of a file is reached, EOF returns the value "True" (-1).
